This is evidence that once, millions of years ago, the world’s highest mountain was deep in the sea. How Everest crossed half of the world and rose 2/3 of the way into the atmosphere is one of the fascinating stories that accompany the adventure of this extraordinary mountain.

Approximately 200 million years ago, the Indian subcontinent broke away from the supercontinent called Gondwanaland in the south. It drifted northeast in the sea and collided with the Asian continental mass. Like two cars that collided head-on and twisted, the two huge continental masses twisted, folded and rose to form the world’s most magnificent mountains. Mount Everest, which is 8848 meters, is one of them.

The names given to the mountain by the Tibetans are variously translated as ‘Goddess of the Mountain Snows’, ‘Goddess of the Earth’, and ‘Mountain So High That No Bird Can Fly Over It’. First measured in 1852, the mountain was called Peak 15 until 1865, when it was named after the British Director of the Survey of India, Sir George Everest. A fearless and meticulous military engineer, George Everest was instrumental in creating the first accurate map of India and the Himalayas.

The post The highest mountain in the world: Everest first appeared on Dore Mentor.

This date is a significant milestone in the Turkish nation’s struggle for independence. Istanbul was occupied by the Allied Powers on November 13, 1918, and remained under occupation for nearly five years. However, with the victory of the Turkish War of Independence led by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Istanbul regained its freedom on October 6, 1923.

The occupation of Istanbul began based on the Armistice of Mudros signed on October 30, 1918. The Allied fleets anchored off Haydarpaşa on November 13, 1918, and entered Istanbul. The occupation became official on March 16, 1920. After the Turkish Army entered Izmir, the 5th Cavalry Corps under the command of Fahrettin Pasha began advancing towards the neutral zone controlled by the Allied Powers, during which French and Italian troops withdrew.

The liberation of Istanbul occurred following the Armistice of Mudanya and the Treaty of Lausanne. On October 6, 1923, the 3rd Corps under the command of Şükrü Naili Pasha entered Istanbul, ending the occupation. This important day is celebrated annually in Istanbul with various events and ceremonies. The liberation of Istanbul symbolizes not only the freedom of a city but also the independence and freedom struggle of a nation. Therefore, October 6 stands as one of the finest examples of what the Turkish nation can achieve in unity and solidarity

The post October 6th: The Liberation of Istanbul first appeared on Dore Mentor.

The development of art around the world is a rich and complex phenomenon that reflects cultural, social, and technological changes throughout history. Here are a few key points to consider regarding its evolution:

1. *Cultural Exchange*: Art has always been influenced by cultural exchange. As societies interact through trade, migration, and conquest, artistic styles and techniques often blend, leading to new forms of expression. For example, the Silk Road facilitated the exchange of art and ideas between East and West.

2. *Technological Advancements*: Innovations in materials and techniques have continuously shaped the development of art. The invention of oil paint, the printing press, and more recently, digital technology have provided artists with new tools to express their ideas and reach audiences.

3. *Globalization*: In the modern era, globalization has increased the sharing of artistic practices across borders. Artists from diverse backgrounds interact, collaborate, and influence one another, leading to the creation of hybrid art forms and the democratization of art.

4. *Social and Political Commentary*: Throughout history, art has been used as a form of social and political commentary. Artists often address issues such as identity, inequality, and human rights through their work, advocating for change and reflecting societal concerns.

5. *Diversity of Mediums*: The range of artistic mediums has expanded significantly, from traditional painting and sculpture to photography, installation art, video art, and performance. This diversification allows for a broader expression of ideas and experiences.

6. *Art and Technology*: The rise of the internet and social media has transformed how art is created, shared, and consumed. Artists can now reach global audiences quickly, and digital art forms, such as virtual reality and interactive installations, are becoming increasingly popular.

7. *Representation and Inclusivity*: There is a growing awareness of the importance of representation in the art world. More attention is being paid to underrepresented voices, including women artists, artists of color, and indigenous artists, leading to a richer, more inclusive artistic discourse.

Overall, the development of art worldwide is an ongoing dialogue that encompasses a variety of perspectives and experiences. It reflects the complexities of human society and continues to evolve as new challenges and ideas emerge. This dynamic nature of art is what makes it such a vital part of human culture and expression.

The post The development of art around the world first appeared on Dore Mentor.

Engaging in activities such as painting, gardening, or playing a musical instrument allows individuals to express their creativity and explore new skills. Many people find solace in hobbies like reading, hiking, or cooking, which not only offer relaxation but also serve as a means of personal development. Joining clubs or groups centered around shared interests fosters social connections and can lead to lifelong friendships. Ultimately, these pursuits create a fulfilling and enjoyable lifestyle, nurturing both mental well-being and personal growth.

Exploring alternatives to traditional hobbies can lead to discovering new passions and interests that suit one’s lifestyle and preferences. For instance, instead of painting, someone might enjoy digital art or graphic design, leveraging technology to express their creativity. If gardening isn’t feasible due to space constraints, indoor plant care or hydroponics can be rewarding alternatives. For those interested in physical activity, instead of team sports, activities like yoga, dance, or martial arts can provide fitness in a different format, while also promoting mindfulness and discipline. Additionally, individuals who enjoy cooking might explore food blogging or learning about nutrition, transforming their culinary skills into educational pursuits. With so many options available, the key is to remain open-minded and experiment with various activities until something resonates.

The post Exploring the hobbies for the winter term of 2024-2025? first appeared on Dore Mentor.

As a result, a large-scale and systematic occupation process began in the days following the armistice. During this process, especially the occupation of Izmir by the Greeks, accelerated the resistance and national organization in Anatolia. This war of the Turkish nation, which was called the “National Forces Spirit” and the name of the total existence struggle against imperialism on the path to independence, became an example to the entire world.

For the Commander-in-Chief and Speaker of the Parliament, Mustafa Kemal Pasha, there were two options before him after the Battle of Sakarya: The first was to immediately launch a general attack without allowing the Greek army, which was defeated near Ankara, to recover. There were also many deputies and commanders in the Parliament who shared this view. The second was to avoid a tiring and exhausting conflict and to prepare for a single and decisive attack for a long time and then to launch an offensive. Mustafa Kemal Pasha, who was aware that the Turkish army was also worn out despite the victory in the Sakarya Field Battle, preferred to enter a long and secret preparation period in order to expel the Greek army from Anatolia with a single attack and a single move. The Turkish side wanted to use its last gunpowder carefully. Within this framework, after secret preparations that continued for about a year in order to deal the strongest and most permanent blow to the enemy, the Great Offensive began on August 26, 1922, upon the order of Mustafa Kemal Pasha, and the decisive result was achieved with the Battle of the Commander-in-Chief on August 30, 1922. The Battle of the Commander-in-Chief Square showed that Turkish success was certain, and Uşak was liberated from occupation on September 1, İzmir on September 9, and Bursa on September 11. By mid-September, the Greek-occupied cities in Western Anatolia and Northwestern Anatolia were liberated, and the Greek army had completely withdrawn from Anatolia.

The post The Great Offensive Began on August 26,1922 first appeared on Dore Mentor.

The rise in global temperatures, sea level rise, extreme weather events, and their devastating effects on natural ecosystems are major causes of concern. According to scientists, urgent action is needed to address climate change. Increasing the use of renewable energy, improving energy efficiency, protecting forests and reforestation efforts are essential. Governments, businesses, and individuals need to work together to tackle climate change. Otherwise, we may be leaving an increasingly uninhabitable world for future generations.

The ways individuals can negatively and positively impact climate change are:

Negative Impacts:
– Excessive consumption habits (energy, water, goods)
– High reliance on fossil fuels (especially in transportation)
– Indifference towards recycling and waste management
– Use of energy-inefficient homes and products
– Supporting deforestation and the exploitation of natural areas

Positive Impacts:
– Utilizing renewable energy sources (solar, wind, geothermal, etc.)
– Choosing energy-efficient technologies and appliances
– Reducing personal consumption and opting for recyclable products
– Preferring eco-friendly mobility options like public transport, cycling, walking
– Supporting local production and consumption
– Contributing to afforestation and protecting natural areas
– Cultivating environmental awareness and changing behaviors

While individual actions may seem small, the collective contribution of millions of people can make a significant difference in the fight against climate change.

The post Global Warming and the Impact of Humankind first appeared on Dore Mentor.
